101 Dalmatians The Musical to embark on UK tour A new musical version of Dodie Smith’s classic book 101 Dalmatians will embark on a UK tour next year, launching at the New Wimbledon Theatre in June 2024. 101 Dalmatians The Musical is written by Douglas Hodge (music and lyrics) and Johnny McKnight (book), from a stage adaptation by Zinnie Harris and is reimagined from the acclaimed Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production in 2022. The classic canine caper is brought to life on stage with spectacular puppetry, show-stopping choreography, hilarious songs and irresistible puppies! After premiering in Wimbledon, the production will visit Birmingham, Norwich, Canterbury, Leicester, Manchester, Belfast, Wolverhampton, Newcastle, Southend, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Woking, Cardiff, Southampton, Aberdeen, York, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Stage Spy: Is 101 Dalmatians The Musical set for a UK Tour? It looks like the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's production of 101 Dalmatians The Musical is heading out on tour in 2024. Dates are on sale for the Theatre Royal Norwich and Grand Opera House Belfast, and it's assumed many more dates and venues are to be announced. Based on the much-loved book by Dodie Smith, and turned into a number of blockbuster movies by Disney, 101 Dalmatians The Musical has been adapted by Zinnie Harris, and boasts music and lyrics by actor, writer and composer Douglas Hodge, and a book by Johnny McKnight. The show proved a crowd-pleaser with critics and audiences at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in the Summer of 2022 starring Kate Fleetwood as Cruella de Vil, and directed by the Open Air's outgoing Artistic Director Timothy Sheader, who takes up the top job at the Dommar Warehouse this March. Wheel of Time and Brave New World actress Kate Fleetwood will star as Cruella de Vil in the show. ‘101 Dalmatians’ at Regents Park Open Air Theatre postponed to Summer 2022 101 Dalmatians at Regents Park Open Air Theatre has been postponed to Summer 2022. Originally scheduled to open last year, the highly anticipated musical stage adaptation has now been postponed a second time due to the 'practical' and 'financial' risks of staging the show in the ongoing pandemic. New dates for 101 Dalmatiansin summer 2022 will be announce in due course. Ticket holders will be contacted by their point of sale to arrange full refunds. In atweet from Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, they said: “We are unable to go ahead with our plans to present 101 Dalmatians as part of our 2021 season.
