FPO LOOKAHEAD –
The defending champion of the Music City Open, Kristin Tattar, reclaimed her dominance and secured her second victory this season at the Jonesboro Open last weekend. With this win, Tattar became the first FPO repeat winner of the 2024 season. Over the past month, Tattarfaced a brief dry spell, failing to secure wins in three consecutive events, marking her longest winless stretch since the start of 2022. Tattar remains a force to be reckoned with, standing alongside the top contenders in the DGPT points standings: Scoggins, Salonen, and Gannon. Notably, just 16 points separate Scoggins, currently in the lead, from Gannon in fourth place, emphasizing the fierce competition within the division. While Tattar is the sole member of the top four to have clinched a top-five finish at last year’s Music City Open, this year’s event promises excitement, as every winner thus far in the 2024 season has delivered 1000+ rated performances, setting a remarkable streak for FPO Major/Elite victories. Additionally, with a unique winner crowned at the Music City Open every year since 2014, anticipation brews for another thrilling showdown on the Mill Ridge course.

Anthony Barela has emerged as a dominant force in the MPO division, securing three impressive victories in the first five Major/Elite events of the 2024 season, a feat not seen since McBeth accomplished it in 2019. With this streak, Barela has cemented himself as a formidable contender, extending his lead in the DGPT standings and demonstrating remarkable consistency with no finishes outside the top four this season. Despite his success, he faces stiff competition from seasoned players like Calvin Heimburg, who, despite battling injuries, has shown resilience with three consecutive top-five finishes. Chris Dickerson, the record-holder for MPO wins in Tennessee, remains a threat, boasting an enviable track record at the Music City Open, having never missed the top five in his appearances. Meanwhile, Gannon Buhr’s remarkable putting prowess has been on full display, making him a player to watch as he aims to hit a milestone of a mile of made putts for the season. Additionally, the return of Simon Lizotte, dealing with a back injury, adds another layer of intrigue, as the defending champion of the Music City Open looks to overcome physical challenges and maintain his perfect win rate at the event.
