Looking forward to my conversation with Emily Smith. I hope that by showcasing some of our innovative initiatives at the University of Vermont, other colleagues can learn a thing or two to make space for the mission critical work we all do in a resource contstrained world.

For the past few years, the Division of Enrollment Management lifts up the hood and teaches our colleagues across the University of Vermont about what we do and the headwinds we face through what we call the Summer Academy. This year we teamed up with our friends and colleagues in Student Affairs to explore perspectives on evolving and sometimes challenging ways in which politics and discourse impact students, and more broadly, our work to support students. Senator Patrick Leahy gave an outstanding keynote speech! Throughout the day we’ll talk FAFSA, SCOTUS, FERPA, and how to set the tone and prepare for difficult conversations in what will surely be an interesting 2024-2025 academic year.

We celebrated the first graduates of ourEmerging Leaders Academy, a yearlong professional development program for cultivating leadership skills among high-potential Enrollment Management team members. The program goal is to create a pipeline of managerial and leadership talent within the Division, supporting succession planning and organizational growth. One of, if not the best day on campus. Congratulations to the University of Vermont Class of 2024. It was so fun to watch you navigate one of the wildest 4 years we’ve seen, in higher education and in global history. We are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what is next. It’s surely going to be great things.

We at the University of Vermont were so impressed with Emily and I'm proud of the way she is navigating this wild year of college admissions and financial aid. So happy to see that she has a slew of great options, but secretly hoping that she joins us at UVM next year! Thanks to VSAC for helping so many students in #Vermont find their paths in thoughtful ways.

The declining number of men in higher education has been a fascinating (and sad) phenomenon to study. I'm very proud of what we're doing at the University of Vermont and throughout the state with many many partners, a requirement for tackling such a major and pervasive issue.

This was a really fun conversation with a panel comprised of interesting colleagues. I learned a lot! Thanks to Alastair Hayes Liz Gross, Ph.D. And Campus Sonar for thinking of me and Douglas Palmer and Edward Conroy for bringing perspectives that I don’t interact with every day!
