Department administrators report to the hospital executives and manage the day-to-day operations of the hospital department structure. The chief of surgery, for example, is responsible for overseeing daily activities within the surgical department as well as performing surgery.
While it is a privately funded entity, CPMC has strong academic ties to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Stanford University Medical Center, as well as the Geisel School of Medicine of Dartmouth College.
A Colorectal Surgeon, formerly known as a proctologist, is a general surgeon who has undergone further training in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum and anus.
Cleveland Clinic fired Dr.Massoud, who previously served as its chief of hepatology, after an internal review. He was arrested in late December and charged with three counts of aggravated kidnapping and three counts of gross sexual imposition.
