Well, every body has different experiences.. as far as i am concerned, specific glass paints are waterproof.. they have crystalline glass staining formula which makes it dry very quickly than other paints. These paints have thinner in them which make them insoluble in water.

I use Glass Plus and I spray it right on the glass making sure I have a good amount on the glass. I then use Scott paper towels to wipe the cleaner thoroughly, then another set of paper towels to wipe till dry.

This will protect the colours from fading, especially if the item is going in a conservatory for example.

Ultraviolet radiation may indeed have a negative effect on most plastics, but not on acrylic. Some acrylics can even be made UV-resistant directly. Acrylic itself is not only not afraid of light, it will not fade.
