Poutine is well known in New Brunswick, in particular in Acadian regions, where we can buy it at any fast food restaurant. Poutine can also be found in Ontario, notably in places where an important part of the population is francophone, for example in Ottawa.

Restaurant chains also offer this dish, like Harvey’s. Poutine is offered at La Belle Patate in Canmore, Alberta, who imports their cheese and smoked meat directly from Quebec, as well as at Cheese Factory, in Edmonton, Alberta. This last restaurant, which specializes in cheese fabrication, is located in the French section of the city. Some restaurants of Vancouver, in British Columbia, have poutine on their menu, as do most restaurants in Yukon. Dairy Queen also serves it in many places, including Vancouver. Although various addresses claim to offer the real Québec poutine, the result often ends up with certain variables that diverge from the original recipe. The cheese is sometimes completely refined (different texture), the fries cooked in the oven (instead of with oil), and/or the sauce of a different flavor. The original Québec poutine now has cousins in the rest of Canada!
